John Smith is one of the most important filmmakers on the international art and experimental scene. Since 1975 he has made films that interrogate his own film construction through narrative and formal character. Gathering the inheritance of British structural-materialist cinema -with its precise methodology made of constrictions- Smith develops a filmic body where the word verbalized, the post-production sound and the conspicuous montage reveal humorous treatments. They are films in 16 mm and digital videos that form metaphilmic reflections where the urban planning and the objects gain prominence.
