Grants & Artist residences at L’Automàtica.
In 2023, we presented for the first time an open call for the selection of 3 projects to be developed in a one-week residency format. Each of the three projects enjoyed tutors, technical support and all the necessary materials for a whole week, with a working schedule of 8 hours a day with access to our entire workshop and our knowledge. The residents and projects of this first edition were:
Elías Taño
BICYCLE
Elías worked on his illustrations directly on four offset plates, for the large-format publication that could be made by exploring the use of folds to print the four offset plates on the same paper. The texts were then added with letterpress printing.
Victo Löwy
I have spent a fortune on being a foreigner
We accompany Victo in the construction of a poetic-visual piece around the concept of foreignness, identity otherness, the body and desire, while redesigning banknotes in letterpress.
Joana Moher
OH! BACTERIA
With this project, the printing house became a laboratory of multiple experimentation. Creating paper from biomaterials, cellulose, through fermentation -fungi – symbiosis – decomposition- to generate a sonoplastic self-published poetry book.
